The world is in 'uncharted territory' on the corona virus outbreak, the World Health Organization (WHO) has said. Doctors have never before seen a respiratory pathogen capable of community transmission. Deaths globally have now passed 3,000. Most are in China but in the past day there were nine times more new infections outside China than inside. One of the countries worst affected outside China, Italy, on Monday saw a jump in its death toll from 34 to 52. As of last night 39 cases are confirmed in the UK. Comet Atlas
C/2019 Y4 (ATLAS) is currently the brightest comet of 2020 and can be found in the constellation of Camelopardalis with binoculars or a telescope. It is expected that the comet will continue to brighten, and it is possible the comet may be visible to the naked eye sometime in April or May 2020. It will reach its nearest point to Earth on May 23rd and come to perihelion, closest to the Sun, on May 31st. Comet Atlas was discovered on CCD images taken on December 28, 2019, with a 0.5-m (20 in) reflecting telescope atop Mauna Loa in Hawaii. The images were taken as part of the Asteroid Terrestrial-impact Last Alert System (ATLAS). At the time of its discovery, the comet shone at magnitude 19.6 in the constellation Ursa Major as viewed from Earth. I think that the time of discovery of the comet was 14.19 UT(GMT)on Dec 28th 2019. (Time of Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams Hoffman Lab 209 Harvard University). Mars in Scorpio had just risen at Mauna Loa at that moment. The comet had ecliptic coordinates of 13 Virgo at that time. What I think is the discovery chart is below.
During January to March 2020, the comet was located in the constellation of Ursa Major. Throughout the month of April, the comet will be visible in the constellation of Camelopardalis. On May 12 it will move into Perseus. It will be at its closest point to Earth on May 23 during a New Moon when the comet will be 17 degrees from the Sun. At its periheleon on May 31, it will be in the Taurus constellation 12 degrees from the Sun. Today the comet is in mid tropical mid Cancer.
Atlas was discovered the day after an Annular Solar Eclipse and just 3 days before chinese Health officials informed the WHO about a cluster of 41 patients with a mysterious pneumonia, most of whom were connected to Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market. Because of the timing of the discovery of Atlas, and the accompanying Saturn Pluto conjunction and Capricornian stellium, this comet is certainly the 'Covid 19 Comet'. The MC of the chart, often taken as 'the outcome' in event charts, is strongly favorable. The young Moon in Aquarius was in long conjunction to Venus, this comet and this virus certainly draw people around the planet to a shared experience.

Images taken on UT 2020 April 5.6-5.9 showed an elongated pseudo-nucleus measuring about 3 arcsec in length and aligned with the axis of the tail, a morphology consistent with a sudden decline or cessation of dust production, as would be expected from a major disruption of the [comet’s] nucleus.

Comet Y4 ATLAS disintegrated into several fragments as observers watched on. This is not uncommon, especially as a comet nears the Sun. Enter Comet Swan. The Minor Planet Center at Harvard released circular 2020-G94 on Sunday night, announcing the discovery of Comet C/2020 F8 SWAN. The comet was discovered in March 25th. F8 SWAN was discovered while it was deep in the southern hemisphere skies at 1.77 AU distant. Currently shining at magnitude +8 in the constellation of Grus the Crane, the comet will pass closest to the Earth at 51.7 million miles distant on May 13th, moving about two degrees a day. The comet then reaches perihelion shortly afterwards on May 27th. With a steep orbit inclined 111 degrees relative to the ecliptic plane, Comet F8 SWAN is on an orbit in access of 10,000 years. The comet could also be making its first visit to the inner solar system, meaning its dynamically new and prone to lots of outbursts as it nears the warmth of the inner solar system for the first time. For northern hemisphere observers at mid-latitudes, the very best time to catch this comet is in mid-to late May, low to the northeast at dawn. The main news in the UK is that the country's lock down will continue for at least three more weeks. The UK (1801) chart has transiting Saturn in Aquarius opposing the country's 10th house Jupiter three times in the next 10 months. The first and second passes are very close, April 30th and May 22nd. Saturn will 'hover' over this point for the next 2 months or so. The final hit is Jan 3rd 2021. This transit restricts opportunities. It limits growth and restricts progress. This lock down is going to seriously increase both hardship and frustration in the UK. North Korea in the last few days has said it will cut off all inter-Korean communication lines with the South, including a hotline between the two nations' leaders. The North said this was the first in a series of actions, describing South Korea as 'the enemy'.

Today's eclipse is the 3rd member of the 72 eclipses which make up Lunar Saros Series 149. The chart below is erected for the moment of maximum eclipse of the first eclipse on June 13th 1984, arbitrarily set for London. I take this chart to describe the tenor of the whole series.
The eclipsed Moon in Sagittarius in this Saros chart is opposite Venus and applies in trine aspect to Pluto. Mercury is opposite Uranus. Mars is conjunct Saturn in Scorpio, both sextile Jupiter in Capricorn and forming a yod pattern focused on Mercury (opposite Neptune). It is a mutable and airy chart.
This Saros is very young. We are yet to understand its true quality, but the 2002 eclipse certainly reflected the 'transport accident' symbolism of the Mercury Uranus opposition of the Saros chart.
On the exact date of the last eclipse in this series, June 24th 2002, a passenger train collided with a freight train in Dodoma Region, Tanzania, killing 281 people, making it the worst rail accident in African history.
Seven days after this eclipse a Russian passenger jet and cargo plane collided over the town of Überlingen, Germany, killing 71 people. Two days before this eclipse the 2002 Bou'in-Zahra earthquake occurred. The epicenter was in northwestern Iran which is crossed by several major faults that is known for destructive earthquakes. At least 261 people were killed and 1,500 more were injured.
Five days before the 1984 eclipse a deadly 'F5' tornado nearly destroyed the town of Barneveld, Wisconsin, killing nine people, injuring nearly 200, and causing over $25000000 in damage.

Today's eclipse is member 58 of the 73 eclipses which make up Lunar Saros 116, an ageing series which started in the year 993. The saros climaxed in 1696 at the time of great famines in Europe. The next eclipse in the series is on Dec 11th 2038 and the series ends in the year 2291. The chart for the moment of greatest eclipse on the first event in the series on March 11th 993 set for London is shown below.
This Saros chart has an irksome 'shifting sands' and fizzy quality to it. The chart above is that of the first eclipse of Solar Saros 142 to which today's eclipse belongs. It is member 23 of 72, so this Saros is reasonably young. The Saros started on April 17th 1624, it 'went Total' in 1786, it climaxes, with the longest eclipse, in May 2291. The last Total eclipse is in 2525 and the Saros ends in the year 2904.
That first eclipse is certainly a 'hot one' with a preponderance of planets in fire signs including a severe conjunction of Saturn and Uranus (and Jupiter) in Leo square Pluto in Scorpio. There are two yod patterns in the chart, one involving Venus, Pluto and Neptune, the other Jupiter, Neptune and Venus. These added to the potency of the event and in my opinion to the entire Saros. The next eclipse in the Saros is on Boxing Day Dec 26th 2038.
The last eclipse in this Saros, Dec 4th 2002 coincided with the US planning of the Iraq War. The invasion occurred 3 months after the eclipse but the planning commenced at the time of the eclipse. Also at that time the Mombassa Hotel terrorist attacks occurred.
Three days after the 1984 eclipse Band Aid recorded 'Do they know it's Christmas', 5 days after that the Tamil Tigers 'Kent and Dollar Farm massacres' occurred with 127 dead. 3 days after that was the world's worse industrial disaster in Bhopal India.

The UK has detected two cases of yet another new variant of coronavirus. The variant has been causing mounting concern in South Africa, where health minister Zweli Mkhize warned that young, previously healthy people are now becoming very sick.
