Mars enters Scorpio

Moon Mars conjunction in Scorpio.

*Saudi Arabia's execution yesterday of prominent Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr has sparked anger and protests in Shia communities across the region. He was among 47 people put to death on Saturday after being convicted of terrorism offences. The website of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei posted a picture suggesting the execution was comparable to the actions of the so-called Islamic State group. Mars is squared by Mercury on Jan 5th, the 2nd of 3 and representing a knotty problem requiring persistence to resolve, and he trines Neptune, a push for clarity, on Jan 18th. Mars sextiles Pluto on Feb 3rd involving strong willpower. On Feb 7th Mars squares the Sun which pushes far too hard and is sextile to Venus in Capricorn which mediates the battle. Mars sextiles Jupiter on Feb 13th, a push for productivity and squares Mercury a final time on March 5th. Mars leaves Scorpio for Sagittarius on March 6th. State of the sky:- The Sun reaches 13 degrees Capricorn today. There are 77 days to the Vernal equinox. The Sun and Pluto are in Capricorn. Venus and Saturn are in Sagittarius. Mercury and Mars are in a dificult and static 'fixed square' aspect for the next 3 days. Mercury, 2 days from his station, entered 'repeatable territory' on Dec 20th, and slowed to a speed of less than a degree per day on Dec 30th. Mercury entered Aquarius on Jan 2nd, for a brief 6 days, squaring Mars a 2nd time tomorrow and turning retrograde at 1 degree Aquarius also on that day. Mercury retrogrades back into Capricorn on Jan 8th, Mercury is in Inferior Conjunction with the Sun on January 13th. (This is the ultimate Inferior Conjunction of Mercury before The Transit of Mercury over the disc of the Sun on May 9th 2016). Venus reaches her Superior Conjunction with the Sun on June 6th 2016 at 17 degrees Gemini. She is then an evening star for the rest of 2016 turning retrograde on March 4th 2017. Jupiter squared Saturn on Aug 3rd 2015 this was the first of three waning square aspects between the two gas giants and was from Leo to Scorpio. The others from Jupiter in Virgo to Saturn in Sagittarius are on March 23rd 2016 and May 26th 2016. This aspect issues a challenge to existing power structures. Jupiter makes three very productive and positive earth trines to Pluto. The first was on October 11th, with repeats on 16th March 2016 and June 26th 2016. Jupiter enters Libra on September 9th 2016. Saturn now resides in Sagittarius. The major outer body aspect currently is a waning mutable square between Saturn and Neptune. The first hit occurred on Nov 26th 2015, the remaining two are on June 18th 2016 and Sep 10th 2016. Saturn enters Capricorn on the northern hemisphere Winter Solstice 2017. There are 65 days to the Total Solar Eclipse on March 9th 2016 and 79 days to the Penumbral lunar Eclipse on March 23rd 2016. The next cosmic event of note occurs over the coming weekend with the sobering near alignment of Venus and Saturn in Sagittarius on Saturday and an industrious New Moon in Capricorn square Uranus, quintile Mars and trine Jupiter on Sunday.

Three degrees separate

the Moon Venus and Saturn

Sun squares Uranus.

*Today's triple conjunction falls on the lunar node in North Korea's Kim Jong Un's power transfer chart, the one certain chart we do have for the country. At the time of writing there is some doubt as to the true nature of North Korea's nuclear test yesterday but whether is was an Atomic bomb or the much more powerful and lighter Hydrogen bomb, as claimed, there does seem to be a deep rift developing in North Korea's relationship with China. Using the September 9th 1948 chart for North Korea and the Oct 1st 1949 chart for China and combining them to create the relationship chart for the two countries we see that the 'dragon's tail' ie the transiting Moon's descending node was conjunct relationship Venus yesterday. This is aptly indicative of a serious breakdown of a union. Furthermore there may well be a progressed New Moon in the relationship chart this year putting the two countries on an entirely new footing. Transiting Neptune is conjunct relationship Mercury this year so there will be massive confusion and uncertainty between the two. We watch with interest. North Korea has a progressed Full Moon next year. There are two tight Heliocentric T-squares over the next 4 days, one manifests today in mutable signs involving Mercury Saturn and Neptune. The other is on Jan 10th involving Earth, Venus and Uranus. World weather events in motion with the first one, adjustments to the destiny of nations with the other. Geocentrically the Moon, Venus and Saturn are in triple conjunction in Sagittarius in the first few hours (GMT) of today. The day that follows may have a degree of awkward and uncomfortable developments as the Sun squares Uranus. Venus aligns to Saturn

The tightest is the Venus Jupiter conjunction on August 27th. Venus has been square Neptune this last week before almost aligning to Saturn today. The turbulence in the money markets during the last few days may be corresponded to this. It is reasonably clear that in astrology Venus 'rules' finance. There have been two tight Heliocentric T-squares over the past 4 days, one was on Thursday in mutable signs involving Mercury Saturn and Neptune. Strong 9th harmonic wave all week.

 

*For most of this next week we are subject to a huge 9th planetary harmonic 'wave'. This wave started yesterday and peaks on Wednesday and Thursday. (See the chart I have uploaded on Wednesday's comment for details). The wave includes the current novile aspect between Uranus and Neptune, which has actually been manifest since June 2015, with a peak in Nov 2015 and in April this year, coinciding now with the binovile aspect between Jupiter (conjunct the lunar node), and Saturn. All of the planets are drawn into the pattern this week except Pluto. Vedic astrology stresses the importance of the 9th harmonic. In jyotish the name of the 9th harmonic is the navamsa chart, and a birth chart is studied alongside it. State of the sky:- The Sun reaches 20 degrees Capricorn today. There are 70 days to the Vernal equinox. The Sun,retro-Mercury and Pluto are in Capricorn. Venus and Saturn are in Sagittarius. Mercury is a retrograde evening star in Capricorn. Mercury is in Inferior Conjunction with the Sun on January 13th. (This is the ultimate Inferior Conjunction of Mercury before The Transit of Mercury over the disc of the Sun on May 9th 2016). Mercury trines Jupiter a second time on Jan 15th, squares Uranus again on Jan 20th, and is conjunct Pluto a 2nd time on Jan 22nd. Mercury turns direct at 15 degrees Capricorn on Jan 25th and is conjunct Pluto a final time on Jan 30th. Mercury squares Uranus a final time on Feb 1st, trines Jupiter a final time on Feb 6th, is back up to speed on Feb 7th leaving Capricorn on Feb 13th. On Feb 15th he enters new territory. Mercury completes his final square to Mars on March 5th. Essentially this is a pragmatic time with the need to mentally adjust to changing circumstances and to seize opportunities as and when they arise. This is not a period to launch plans rather it is a time to review from a practical and realistic perspective and adjust accordingly. It's back to brass tacks time, old school heroes. Venus resides in Sagittarius as a 'morning star'. She 'fire trines' Uranus which can be exciting on Jan 13th and squares Jupiter which is potentially wasteful on Jan 18th. Venus leaves Sagittarius for Capricorn on Jan 23rd. Venus in this sign is open to new games and is attracted to 'enterprise'. She follows into Aquarius on Feb 17th. Venus reaches her Superior Conjunction with the Sun on June 6th 2016 at 17 degrees Gemini. She is then an evening star for the rest of 2016 turning retrograde on March 4th 2017. Mars entered Scorpio on January 3rd 2016. Mars resides in Scorpio for 9 weeks. Mars trines Neptune, a push for clarity, on Jan 18th. Mars sextiles Pluto on Feb 3rd involving strong willpower. On Feb 7th Mars squares the Sun which pushes far too hard and is sextile to Venus in Capricorn which mediates the battle. Mars sextiles Jupiter on Feb 13th, a push for productivity and squares Mercury a final time on March 5th. Mars leaves Scorpio for Sagittarius on March 6th. Indeed we have nine weeks of intense and forceful projections ahead of us. Mars next turns retrograde on April 17th 2016 and is in opposition to the Sun on May 22nd 2016 at the start of Sagittarius. Mars retrogrades back into Scorpio on May 27th and resides there until August 2nd. Mars resumes direct motion and is conjunct Saturn at 10 Sagittarius on August 24h 2016. Jupiter is in Virgo. Jupiter squared Saturn on Aug 3rd 2015 this was the first of three waning square aspects between the two gas giants and was from Leo to Scorpio. The others from Jupiter in Virgo to Saturn in Sagittarius are on March 23rd 2016 and May 26th 2016. This aspect issues a challenge to existing power structures. Jupiter makes three very productive and positive earth trines to Pluto. The first was on October 11th, with repeats on 16th March 2016 and June 26th 2016. Jupiter enters Libra on September 9th 2016. Saturn now resides in Sagittarius. The major outer body aspect currently is a waning mutable square between Saturn and Neptune. The first hit occurred on Nov 26th 2015, the remaining two are on June 18th 2016 and Sep 10th 2016. Saturn enters Capricorn on the northern hemisphere Winter Solstice 2017. There are 58 days to the Total Solar Eclipse on March 9th 2016 and 72 days to the Penumbral lunar Eclipse on March 23rd 2016.

Talking about the 9th harmonic alias 'the humanitarian', an aid convoy yesterday began entering the besieged rebel-held Syrian town of Madaya with enough food to last 40,000 people for a month. Transiting Jupiter is exactly conjunct the Sun in the Syrian (independence) chart today. However back in the UK the day was overwhelmingly coloured by the death of British gentleman David Bowie. The void 'child aquarian Moon' coupled with a retrograde Mercury cast a detached, inward, contemplative atmosphere today. Yesterday a suspected member of the Islamic State group killed 10 people, at least eight of them German tourists, in a suicide bomb attack in the Turkish city of Istanbul. Transiting Mars is currently conjunct the Turkish (Oct 29th 1923 chart) Sun. That's an ignition event. The Turkey/Islamic state relationship chart has a very tense and tight opposition between Saturn and Uranus squared by the lunar node axis all at 14 degrees of the mutable signs. By the end of January transiting Saturn conjuncts the lunar south node in the chart setting off this mutable cross. There may be much more to transpire in this 'relationship', and it's probably all going to hit the cosmic fan very soon. Inferior conjunction of Mercury.

Yesterday Iran released 10 US sailors held for entering its territorial waters, in an incident that tested newly improved US-Iranian ties. The US expressed its gratitude to Iran for swiftly resolving the issue. The sailors were detained on Tuesday when one of their two vessels broke down while training in the Gulf. It comes at a sensitive time, amid reports that a deal on Iran's nuclear activities is just days away from implementation. First quarter Moon, crisis in action.

A 'low news day' occurred yesterday. Not much of note going on. However there was continuing turbulence in the money markets. In the UK shares fell on Friday, with mining stocks dragging the market lower as the prices of oil and commodities continued to tumble. The FTSE 100 was down 2.1%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell almost 3%. The S&P 500 lost 3% and the Nasdaq Composite index dropped 3.8%. Venus has been besieged in Sagittarius so far this year, being square Neptune, conjunct Saturn and now on Monday being square Jupiter and on Tuesday square the lunar node. Tsai Ing-wen has been elected Taiwan's first female president. Ms Tsai, 59, born Aug 31st 1956 with an unassuming countenance and an unassuming birth chart leads the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) that wants independence from China. Mars trine Neptune.

*Iran "has opened a new chapter" in its ties with the world, President Hassan Rouhani said yesterday hours after international nuclear sanctions were lifted. This year opened with transiting Jupiter conjunct the lunar node in the skies of Earth, it had to herald some good news, the Jupiter/Uranus midpoint (always a good one) in the Iran chart is hit by this conjunction. In addition Iran's progressed Moon entered Libra in December 2015 and immediately applied to progressed Jupiter. All very expansive open and diplomatic. State of the sky:- The Sun reaches 27 degrees Capricorn today. There are 63 days to the Vernal equinox. The Sun, retro-Mercury and Pluto are in Capricorn. Venus and Saturn are in Sagittarius. The Sun enters Aquarius on Wednesday. The Full Moon is in the early hours (GMT) of Sunday. Mercury is a retrograde morning star in Capricorn. Mercury was in Inferior Conjunction with the Sun on January 13th. (This was the ultimate Inferior Conjunction of Mercury before The Transit of Mercury over the disc of the Sun on May 9th 2016). Mercury trined Jupiter a second time on Jan 15th, he squares Uranus again on Wednesday, and is conjunct Pluto a 2nd time on Jan 22nd. Mercury turns direct at 15 degrees Capricorn on Jan 25th and is conjunct Pluto a final time on Jan 30th. Mercury squares Uranus a final time on Feb 1st, trines Jupiter a final time on Feb 6th, is back up to speed on Feb 7th leaving Capricorn on Feb 13th. On Feb 15th he enters new territory. Mercury completes his final square to Mars on March 5th. Essentially this is a pragmatic time with the need to mentally adjust to changing circumstances and to seize opportunities as and when they arise. This is not a period to launch plans rather it is a time to review from a practical and realistic perspective and adjust accordingly. It's still back to brass tacks time, old school heroes. Venus resides in Sagittarius, also as a 'morning star'. Today She squares Jupiter. Venus leaves Sagittarius for Capricorn on Jan 23rd. Venus in Sagittarius is open to new games and is attracted to 'enterprise'. She follows into Aquarius on Feb 17th. Venus reaches her Superior Conjunction with the Sun on June 6th 2016 at 17 degrees Gemini. She is then an evening star for the rest of 2016 turning retrograde on March 4th 2017. Mars entered Scorpio on January 3rd 2016. Mars resides in Scorpio for 9 weeks. Mars trines Neptune, a push for clarity, on Jan 18th. Mars sextiles Pluto on Feb 3rd involving strong willpower. On Feb 7th Mars squares the Sun which pushes far too hard and is sextile to Venus in Capricorn which mediates the battle. Mars sextiles Jupiter on Feb 13th, a push for productivity and squares Mercury a final time on March 5th. Mars leaves Scorpio for Sagittarius on March 6th. Indeed we have nine weeks of intense and forceful projections ahead of us. Mars next turns retrograde on April 17th 2016 and is in opposition to the Sun on May 22nd 2016 at the start of Sagittarius. Mars retrogrades back into Scorpio on May 27th and resides there until August 2nd. Mars resumes direct motion and is conjunct Saturn at 10 Sagittarius on August 24h 2016. Jupiter is in Virgo. Jupiter squared Saturn on Aug 3rd 2015 this was the first of three waning square aspects between the two gas giants and was from Leo to Scorpio. The others from Jupiter in Virgo to Saturn in Sagittarius are on March 23rd 2016 and May 26th 2016. This aspect issues a challenge to existing power structures. Jupiter makes three very productive and positive earth trines to Pluto. The first was on October 11th, with repeats on 16th March 2016 and June 26th 2016. Jupiter enters Libra on September 9th 2016. Saturn now resides in Sagittarius. The major outer body aspect currently is a waning mutable square between Saturn and Neptune. The first hit occurred on Nov 26th 2015, the remaining two are on June 18th 2016 and Sep 10th 2016. Saturn enters Capricorn on the northern hemisphere Winter Solstice 2017. There are 51 days to the Total Solar Eclipse on March 9th 2016 and 65 days to the Penumbral lunar Eclipse on March 23rd 2016.

Possible new planet. Certain new Prime Number

Nature magazine yesterday published a paper by Brown and Batygin about the theoretical discovery of a body in the outer solar system known simply as “Planet 9” . Using mathematical modeling and computer simulations, Brown and Batygin have concluded that Sedna and other members of the Kupier belt must be herded by an as-yet-unobserved planet with about ten times the mass of Earth, circling the sun at an average distance 20 times greater than that of Neptune—making one orbit every 20,000 years. It’s still a theoretical discovery. The pair are hoping to crowdsource that job, getting as many telescopes looking as possible across the globe. They’ve made the challenge easier by mapping Planet 9’s orbit; now sky watchers have to pinpoint where it is on that very long path. Also yesterday New Scientist published the announcement of a new 'largest known prime number' which is 2 to the power of 74,207,281 - 1, a number with 22,338,618 digits. It was found by the Great Internet Mersenne Prime Search (GIMPS). So what's going on? Well Mercury retrograding in Capricorn is conjunct Pluto today and will remain within a couple of degrees from the planet for the remainder of the month. Quite a rare prolonged conjunction of the Universal Mind and the God of the underworld is underway. Our consciousness has been penetrated and empowered by new archetypes, 'planet Bowie' God of boundaries and Mersenne primes. Also as Mercury conjuncts Pluto it was also square Uranus yesterday invoking a serious case of the jitters. Stock markets worldwide tumbled with investors unsettled by the continued slide in oil prices and fears about the impact on global growth. Venus too under pressure recently received a quintile from uncertain Neptune yesterday. In Pakistan, as Neptune rose yesterday morning local time (9.30) and apparently under a thick neptunian fog, security forces began to take on a gun and bomb attack on a university in north-west Pakistan in which 19 people were killed and 17 injured. Four suspected attackers also died in the battle that lasted nearly three hours at Bacha Khan University in Charsadda. Mars squared the Pakistan Sun/Moon midpoint yesterday.

Finally Sarah Palin joined Donald Trump on stage asserting her support for his nomination. The Moon sextiles her node 09:11 The Moon enters Leo 19:22 Venus, currently a 'morning star, enters Capricorn 20:33 joining Mercury and Pluto in this sign. She resides in this sign for a brief 25 days. Venus sextiles Neptune in Pisces on Jan 30th, which is artistic, musical and softly impressionable. She is conjunct Pluto and square Uranus on Feb 6th, that is wounding, love's labor lost, heart shattering, sextiles Mars on Feb 7th, which favours human love and and sexuality, and 'earth trines' Jupiter in Virgo on Feb 10th which is quite simply a lucky break. State of the sky:- The Sun reaches 4 degrees Aquarius today. There are 56 days to the Vernal equinox. Retrograde-Mercury, Venus and Pluto are in Capricorn. Mercury is a retrograde morning star in Capricorn. Mercury was in Inferior Conjunction with the Sun on January 13th. (This was the ultimate Inferior Conjunction of Mercury before The Transit of Mercury over the disc of the Sun on May 9th 2016). Mercury turns direct at 15 degrees Capricorn today and is conjunct Pluto a final time on Jan 30th. Mercury squares Uranus a final time on Feb 1st, trines Jupiter a final time on Feb 6th, is back up to speed on Feb 7th leaving Capricorn on Feb 13th. On Feb 15th he enters new territory. Mercury completes his final square to Mars on March 5th. Essentially this is a pragmatic time with the need to mentally adjust to changing circumstances and to seize opportunities as and when they arise. This is not a period to launch plans rather it is a time to review from a practical and realistic perspective and adjust accordingly. It's still back to brass tacks time, old school heroes. Venus now resides in Capricorn since Jan 23rd. She follows into Aquarius on Feb 17th. Venus reaches her Superior Conjunction with the Sun on June 6th 2016 at 17 degrees Gemini. She is then an evening star for the rest of 2016 turning retrograde on March 4th 2017. Mars entered Scorpio on January 3rd 2016. Mars sextiles Pluto on Feb 3rd involving strong willpower. On Feb 7th Mars squares the Sun which pushes far too hard and is sextile to Venus in Capricorn which mediates the battle. Mars sextiles Jupiter on Feb 13th, a push for productivity and squares Mercury a final time on March 5th. Mars leaves Scorpio for Sagittarius on March 6th. Indeed we have nine weeks of intense and forceful projections ahead of us. Mars next turns retrograde on April 17th 2016 and is in opposition to the Sun on May 22nd 2016 at the start of Sagittarius. Mars retrogrades back into Scorpio on May 27th and resides there until August 2nd. Mars resumes direct motion and is conjunct Saturn at 10 Sagittarius on August 24h 2016. Jupiter is in Virgo. Jupiter squared Saturn on Aug 3rd 2015 this was the first of three waning square aspects between the two gas giants and was from Leo to Scorpio. The others from Jupiter in Virgo to Saturn in Sagittarius are on March 23rd 2016 and May 26th 2016. This aspect issues a challenge to existing power structures. Jupiter makes three very productive and positive earth trines to Pluto. The first was on October 11th, with repeats on 16th March 2016 and June 26th 2016. Jupiter enters Libra on September 9th 2016. Saturn now resides in Sagittarius. The major outer body aspect currently is a waning mutable square between Saturn and Neptune. The first hit occurred on Nov 26th 2015, the remaining two are on June 18th 2016 and Sep 10th 2016. Saturn enters Capricorn on the northern hemisphere Winter Solstice 2017. There are 44 days to the Total Solar Eclipse on March 9th 2016 and 58 days to the Penumbral lunar Eclipse on March 23rd 2016. The sky this week continues to be dominated by Mercury from tonight direct in motion and in 'prolonged conjunction' with Pluto.

40 days to the Total Eclipse of the Sun

If you go out Friday morning for the dawn planet panorama, you'll find the waning Moon well to the upper right of Spica. Off to their left, Mars will be 1.5 degrees from fainter Alpha Librae, a wide binocular double star. Elegant presentations today. Much finery. Mercury and Pluto are now starting to form a square with Uranus peaking Feb 2nd. Expecting a 'brittle' 5 days or so. State of the sky:- The Sun reaches 18 degrees Aquarius today. The very young Moon is also in Aquarius. There are 42 days to the Vernal equinox. Mercury, Venus and Pluto are in Capricorn. Mercury is now a direct morning star in Capricorn. Mercury turned direct at 15 degrees Capricorn two weeks ago. Mercury is now back up to speed,leaving Capricorn on Feb 13th. On Feb 15th he enters new territory. Mercury completes his final square to Mars on March 5th. Essentially this is a pragmatic time with the need to mentally adjust to changing circumstances and to seize opportunities as and when they arise. It's still back to brass tacks time but now as Mercury is direct and picking up speed, we can cast focus on the future. Venus a morning star has been in Capricorn since Jan 23rd. She 'earth trines' Jupiter in Virgo on Wednesday which is quite simply a lucky break. Venus trines the lunar node, invoking interesting contacts and unions on Feb 11th and leaves Capricorn for Aquarius on Feb 17th. Venus in Capricorn is the 'material girl'. She seeks value and appreciation. Her energy harmonises quite well with that of Mars in Scorpio, appreciating his earnest intensity and directing him to commitment and dedication. Putting a ring on her finger makes her his own. She follows into Aquarius on Feb 17th. Venus reaches her Superior Conjunction with the Sun on June 6th 2016 at 17 degrees Gemini. She is then an evening star for the rest of 2016 turning retrograde on March 4th 2017. Mars entered Scorpio on January 3rd 2016. Mars sextiles Jupiter on Feb 13th, a push for productivity and squares Mercury a final time on March 5th. Mars leaves Scorpio for Sagittarius on March 6th. Indeed we have nine weeks of intense and forceful projections ahead of us. Mars next turns retrograde on April 17th 2016 and is in opposition to the Sun on May 22nd 2016 at the start of Sagittarius. Mars retrogrades back into Scorpio on May 27th and resides there until August 2nd. Mars resumes direct motion and is conjunct Saturn at 10 Sagittarius on August 24h 2016. Jupiter is in Virgo. Jupiter squared Saturn on Aug 3rd 2015 this was the first of three waning square aspects between the two gas giants and was from Leo to Scorpio. The others from Jupiter in Virgo to Saturn in Sagittarius are on March 23rd 2016 and May 26th 2016. This aspect issues a challenge to existing power structures. Jupiter makes three very productive and positive earth trines to Pluto. The first was on October 11th, with repeats on 16th March 2016 and June 26th 2016. Jupiter enters Libra on September 9th 2016. Saturn now resides in Sagittarius. The major outer body aspect currently is a waning mutable square between Saturn and Neptune. The first hit occurred on Nov 26th 2015, the remaining two are on June 18th 2016 and Sep 10th 2016. Saturn enters Capricorn on the northern hemisphere Winter Solstice 2017. There are 30 days to the Total Solar Eclipse on March 9th 2016 and 34 days to the Penumbral lunar Eclipse on March 23rd 2016. With Venus trine Jupiter early Wednesday and Mars sextile Jupiter next weekend we have at last a more pleasant and positive week ahead.

Scientists are claiming a stunning discovery in their quest to fully understand gravity. They have observed the warping of space-time generated by the collision of two black holes more than a billion light-years from Earth. The international team says the first detection of these gravitational waves will usher in a new era for astronomy. *Grim news is seemingly never ending from Syria. Up to 50 people have been killed in missile attacks on schools and hospitals in northern Syria, according to the United Nations. One of the raids was on a Medecins Sans Frontieres clinic in Maarat al-Numan, which the group called a "deliberate attack". Activists have accused Russia of carrying out the attacks but at the time of writing Moscow has yet to respond. The war in Syria has been going on for over 5 years. Such long and drawn out events are best looked at astrologically by an examination of the progressed chart where planetary aspects from and subside slowly over time. The Syrian (independence) progressed chart had its progressed Sun entering Sagittarius at the end of 2008 ushering in a 30 year 'episode' for the country. The progressed Sun has been in trine aspect to progressed Pluto during the first six years of this episode. This should have been a force for regeneration and transformation of the country. This is what should have happened. Instead there has been a build up of a very austere and violent opposition of progressed Mercury in Scorpio to a conjunction of progressed Saturn and Uranus in Taurus. The peak of this opposition is from 2015 to 2017 with its peak right now. This 'constriction' and 'agitation' of energies symbolised by the opposition has thwarted the forces for positive change. After 2017 the Mercury opposition subsides and just maybe positive changes can be allowed to flow. Full Moon in Virgo

As suggested here on Saturday, Donald Trump won the South Carolina primary in the Republican race for president, Hillary Clinton beat Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. In the UK Conservative Mayor of London Boris Johnson said he had decided "after a huge amount of heartache" to campaign for Britain to leave the EU. We have an accurate birth time for him. State of the sky:- The Sun reaches 10 degrees Pisces today. There are 20 days to the Vernal equinox. The Sun and Neptune are in Pisces. Mercury and Venus are in Aquarius. We are in an eclipse season with a 'astrologically disjointed' Total Solar Eclipse on March 9th. Mercury is now a morning star in Aquarius. Mercury completes his final square to Mars on March 5th. Mercury slips into Pisces on that day March 5th, 4 days before the Total Solar Eclipse. Mercury in Aquarius is cool, rational, global, future orientated and dispassionate. Mercury is at Superior Conjunction with the Sun on 7th March at 17 Pisces and next turns retrograde at 5 degrees Taurus on April 9th. Venus a morning star in Aquarius for a brief 24 days. She sextiles Saturn today, sextiles Uranus on March 3rd and leaves Aquarius for Pisces on March 12th. Venus in Aquarius is coolly experimental and modern. Mars resides in Scorpio for the majority of the Venus residence in Aquarius. This combination is indicative of conflicts of will and purpose between the sexes and in all aspects of human relationships. A challenging time for affairs of the heart. Venus reaches her Superior Conjunction with the Sun on June 6th 2016 at 17 degrees Gemini. She is then an evening star for the rest of 2016 turning retrograde on March 4th 2017. Jupiter squared Saturn on Aug 3rd 2015 this was the first of three waning square aspects between the two gas giants and was from Leo to Scorpio. The others from Jupiter in Virgo to Saturn in Sagittarius are on March 23rd 2016 and May 26th 2016. This aspect issues a challenge to existing power structures. Jupiter makes three very productive and positive earth trines to Pluto. The first was on October 11th, with repeats on 16th March 2016 and June 26th 2016. Jupiter enters Libra on September 9th 2016. Saturn now resides in Sagittarius. The major outer body aspect currently is a waning mutable square between Saturn and Neptune. The first hit occurred on Nov 26th 2015, the remaining two are on June 18th 2016 and Sep 10th 2016. Saturn enters Capricorn on the northern hemisphere Winter Solstice 2017. There are 8 days to the Total Solar Eclipse on March 9th 2016 and 23 days to the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse on March 23rd 2016. We are now very much in the traviles of an eclipse season, and this simply means 'changes ahead'. The next 8 days see the 'fine planetary tunings' which characterise this current season. This includes this week, Venus sextile Saturn early tomorrow and sextile Uranus on Thursday, tweaking relationship issues, and the Sun entering into a mutable T-square with Jupiter and Saturn from Friday onwards which has a 'scattering' influence.

It's 'Super Tuesday' in the USA. Bernie Sanders(no birth time) has the worst astrology as transiting Mars opposes his natal Saturn in the next 72 hours which may trigger a setback. Hilary Clinton (suspect birth time) is still under the beneficial influence of transiting Pluto sextile natal Venus (exact Feb 27th) but transiting Venus squares her Venus today which is mildly unpopular. Marco Rubio (no birth time) has transiting Venus conjunct lunar node, and transiting Sun sextile natal Venus but no heavy weight influences at work, if he is to squash Trump, it may well be not today. Donald Trump (birth time given) has transiting Venus trine natal Jupiter, which is popular, Mercury square his MC, which puts him out of tune, and transiting Jupiter square his natal Uranus on March 11th which is truly off key. The transiting Moon is in his Moon sign Sagittarius (with Saturn) over the next two days which may be comforting for him and a bit of a pain for most, but very indicative of what befalls him this year. All year long transiting Saturn inches towards a conjunction with his natal Sagittarian Moon. At the end of all of this he has a very sobering experience to face. The vibration today evokes dogma, rancor and free speech but I think the silent majority will react to it by backing and investing in the status quo. We shall see. We are in an eclipse season with a 'astrologically disjointed' Total Solar Eclipse on March 9th. Mercury is now a morning star in Pisces. Mercury skims through Pisces in just 17 days. He is conjunct Neptune at 10 degrees of the sign on March 11th. He squares Saturn on March 14th, sextiles Pluto on March 15th and opposes Jupiter on March 15th. He ingresses Aries on March 22nd and is at Superior Conjunction with the Sun at 4 Aries on March 23rd. Mercury next turns retrograde at 5 degrees Taurus on April 9th. The others from Jupiter in Virgo to Saturn in Sagittarius are on March 23rd 2016 and May 26th 2016. This aspect issues a challenge to existing power structures. Jupiter makes three very productive and positive earth trines to Pluto. The first was on October 11th, with repeats on 16th March 2016 and June 26th 2016. Jupiter enters Libra on September 9th 2016. Saturn now resides in Sagittarius. The major outer body aspect currently is a waning mutable square between Saturn and Neptune. The first hit occurred on Nov 26th 2015, the remaining two are on June 18th 2016 and Sep 10th 2016. Saturn enters Capricorn on the northern hemisphere Winter Solstice 2017. The Total Solar Eclipse is tomorrow, March 9th 2016 and there are 16 days to the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse on March 23rd 2016. We are now very much in the travails of an eclipse season, and this simply means 'changes ahead'.

Total Solar Eclipse

Total Solar Eclipse 19 degrees Pisces 01-57 GMT. This eclipse is visible from the East Indies and the northern Pacific Ocean.

The chart for the first eclipse in the saros family is shown above. The Saros went Total in 1475 and has another 12 Total Solar eclipses to follow this one. The first Saros chart has Mars Uranus Venus Neptune in cardinal T-square with applying oppositions of Mars to Uranus and retro Mercury to retro Jupiter. The flavour of the Saros is 'disruptions and endings' although Mercury trine Uranus and Neptune trine Pluto do add touches of technological breakthroughs and advances in knowledge. The last eclipse in the Saros (26th Feb 1998) occurred a month or so after the Monika Lewinsky scandal broke, 6 days after weapons inspectors went into Iraq, and at the time that the likelihood of water was found both on Europa, a Moon of Jupiter and on our Moon. Before that the Feb 16th 1980 eclipse occurred as Voyager 1 confirmed the existence of Janus, a Moon of Saturn, and preceded the election of Robert Mugabe. The Feb 5th 1962 eclipse occurred 2 days before the embargo of Cuba by the USA. The Jan 25th 1944 occurred 2 days before the end of the siege of Leningrad, and 5 days after the UK bombing blitz of Berlin. That eclipse occurred 10 days after the worst earthquake inn Argentina at San Juan killing 10000 people. This Saros is not the kindest of beasts. Against that background, today's solar eclipse is tightly opposite Jupiter in Virgo and square Saturn in Sagittarius colouring the event with a restless disjointed badly judged 'scattered' hue. Mutability and water dominate so essentially this one is 'fluid and a bringer of change'. Today's eclipse opposes the MC and squares Uranus in the Saudi chart, opposes Assad's Sun, trines the UK Moon and Neptune, trines Syria's Saturn, squares the Sun of Italy and of Kenya, opposes Kim Jong's power transfer chart Mars, trines BAFTA winning Dicaprio's Sun, squares Bernie Saunder's Jupiter, conjuncts Alex Salmond's Mars and possibly Jeremy Corben's Moon. Venus resides in Pisces for a brief 24 days. She squares Mars on March 14th, which is seriously unlucky in love, is conjunct Neptune at 10 degrees Pisces, which is artistic, musical and beautiful, on March 20th. She forms a tight mutable T-square with Jupiter and Saturn on March 25th, the climax of the residence, and an invoking agent of many events both personal and financial, and is sextile Pluto, empowering and transforming, on March 26th. Venus leaves Pisces for Aries on April 5th and is conjunct Uranus on April 22nd. Venus in Pisces is deeply sensitive, mystical, poetic and universal. US President Barack Obama has warned White House contenders to avoid raising tensions, a day after a rally by Donald Trump was called off amid clashes. Mr Obama said candidates should not resort to "insults" and "certainly not violence against other Americans". Mr Trump, who leads the race for the Republican nomination, cancelled his Chicago rally after fighting broke out between his supporters and protesters. Quite a tricky couple of planetary squares these. The result could conjure up a shallow and mean spirited mood, too much wriggling, duplicitous, skin deep. State of the sky:- The Sun reaches 24 degrees Pisces today. There are 6 days to the Vernal equinox. The Sun,Mercury, Venus and Neptune are in Pisces. We are in an eclipse season with a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse on March 23rd. Mercury is now a morning star in Pisces. Mercury skims through Pisces in just 17 days. He squares Saturn today, sextiles Pluto on March 15th and opposes Jupiter on March 15th. He ingresses Aries on March 22nd and is at Superior Conjunction with the Sun at 4 Aries on March 23rd. Mercury next turns retrograde at 5 degrees Taurus on April 9th. Venus resides in Pisces for a brief 24 days. She is then an evening star for the rest of 2016 turning retrograde on March 4th 2017. Mars is now in Sagittarius with Saturn but turning retrograde before he is conjunct the gas giant. Mars is squared by Venus on March 14th, is squared by Mercury on March 24th, trined by the Sun on March 26th and trined by Venus on April 12th. On April 17th at 9 degrees Sagittarius Mars turns retrograde and is at opposition to the Sun at 2 Sagittarius on May 22nd. Mars opposes Venus from 1 Sagittarius on May 25th. Mars retrogrades back into Scorpio on May 27th and resides there until August 2nd. Mars resumes direct motion and is conjunct Saturn at 10 Sagittarius on August 24h 2016. Mars in Sagittarius fires us into exploration, adventure and the unknown. Distant beaches beckon. Forthright activity is manifest. Jupiter is in Virgo. Jupiter squared Saturn on Aug 3rd 2015 this was the first of three waning square aspects between the two gas giants and was from Leo to Scorpio. The others from Jupiter in Virgo to Saturn in Sagittarius are on March 23rd 2016 and May 26th 2016. This aspect issues a challenge to existing power structures. Jupiter makes three very productive and positive earth trines to Pluto. The first was on October 11th, with repeats on 16th March 2016 and June 26th 2016. Jupiter enters Libra on September 9th 2016. Saturn now resides in Sagittarius. The major outer body aspect currently is a waning mutable square between Saturn and Neptune. The first hit occurred on Nov 26th 2015, the remaining two are on June 18th 2016 and Sep 10th 2016. Saturn enters Capricorn on the northern hemisphere Winter Solstice 2017. There are 9 days to the Penumbral Lunar Eclipse on March 23rd 2016. We are now very much in the travails of an eclipse fortnight, 'changes ahead'.
