The Austrian Chart. (AND THAT OF JOERG HAIDER).
Historically there is no accurate timing for the foundation of the republic of Austria. The book of world horoscopes gives the chart above in the absence of precise data.
This first week in February 2000 has witnessed the election of a 'far right' politician (Joerg Haider- chart below) and the integration of the Freedom Party into the Austrian government. As I write this report there are newsreels showing civil unrest and public demonstrations all over the country in response to this new political situation. Abroad, countries including the USA are threatening economic sanctions against Austria. The question arises what is happening in he Austrian national horoscope?
Given the uncertainty of the 'birth time' we are nevertheless confronted with a wealth of remarkable transits and progressions. Firstly this chart undergoes a progressed New Moon this year in Aquarius very close to the natal lunar position and remarkably close to the position in the zodiac of the partial solar eclipse of 5th Feb. 2000. The planet Uranus is conjunct this eclipse position right now exactly square natal Sun. Progressed Venus is conjunct progressed Uranus in Aquarius. The combination of all these factors, each involving Aquarius and Uranus, add up to the single word revolution.
Change and crisis are suddenly in the air. Progressed Mars is square natal Mercury. Transiting Saturn will shortly oppose natal Venus and natal Sun quickly followed by transiting Jupiter. The progressed new Moon is a time of the release of a new twenty eight year cycle. The true meaning and manifestation of this new cycle is hidden deep in the collective unconscious and psyche of the Austrian people, needless to say, this is a painful time, birth often is. It is however the eclipse of 5th Feb. 2000 which is the main trigger to the current situation. Once again we witness the power of eclipses to energise and initiate events. The natal chart of Austria itself shows on the positive harmonious side a tight Venus and Sun trine Jupiter, and Mars trine Saturn. Working against this harmony and industry Saturn is opposite Uranus, Venus square Neptune, Mercury square Saturn and (here we go again) Sun square Uranus. Ominously Mars is opposite Pluto. There is an intensity to this chart, an intensity and concentration of fixed sign static dogma. Transiting Uranus has passed over the moon in the past year. Neptune will pass the same path in the next year or two. The future is wide open and we will watch carefully how time traces across the destiny of this nation. Be aware of this beginning, be aware of the potency of this time.
